Aintree Round Up

K&M Racing take on Aintree 2025…..

A week since we touched down at Aintree racecourse. Three days with very mixed fortunes.

Thursday saw Amelia’s Star in the Grade 2 Goffs Nickel Mares NH race. A full field of 20 went to post, and Amelia’s Star ran a super race to finish 8th out of 20, with the RP Report – held up in mid-division, pushed along 4f out, switched left over 3f out, headway over 1f out, no impression, kept on inside final furlong’. She’ll now start her summer break, and she’s going to give Shaw Racing a wonderful season next year when she goes novices hurdling. There’s a share left in her if anyone is interested !

Friday saw Marble Sands in the Topham over the Grand National fences and Moon Chime in the 2mile handicap hurdle finale. Conditions were just a bit quick for Marble Sands – he needs a bit of cut in the ground for anything shorter than 3 miles these days – but he jumped for fun on his debut over the National fences and ran creditably to finish in the middle. He’s another that will now have his summer break, and he’ll come back ready for some good staying chases next season. The lucky last failed to live up to its name for Moon Chime though, with a nasty incident on the first bend seeing him and Country Park brought down on the flat. Both horses were quickly up on their feet, but both riders suffered injuries, and we wish them both speedy recoveries. We’ll give Moon Chime whatever time he needs to get over that fall, and then he’ll be back out again through the summer in some of the nice 2m hurdles.

Saturday saw Destination Dubai in the Grade 2 Weatherbys NH race. Kielan Woods gave him a cracking ride from the front, and DD only gave way late on to what looks to be a smart winner. Second in a Grade 2 was a lovely result for him though, and he’s another youngster that is exciting for the future. A lovely big stamp of a horse, he’ll go over obstacles when next seen out after the summer.
